LIFE IS IMMORTAL WHEN IT ENDS.

Havana (Cuba), 2020

In Life Is Immortal When It Ends (Galería Acacia, 2020), Alejandra Glez forges an intimate, ritualistic dialogue with the work of Ana Mendieta. Her first solo exhibition in Cuba, the show stands as a tribute to an artist whose presence endures in the body of the earth and the memory of the feminine. Glez does not replicate—she converses. Her work becomes a contemporary echo of the ethical and aesthetic concerns both artists share.

Deeply personal and experimental, the exhibition moves through photography, installation, video art, and performance. Each piece becomes an offering—a form of presence that flows between wound and root. Here, the body is a landscape, the gesture a living archive, and art, a sacred act. In this meeting of times and sensibilities, Glez affirms that life, even at the threshold of its ending, can become invocation, persistence, and rebirth.
